I was amazed at how many people were trying to market the same things when I first transitioned from traditional business consulting to concentrate on online consulting.
The most common and easy to find were get rich quick schemes. Here is the ad for a current program: “Do you want to learn how to make 53,808.39$ Per Month With ZERO investment?”*1 These programs do still exist. Even more common are the, “Send me only $xxx and you can use this website to get people to send you money.” This statement is paraphrased but it is what they are actually saying. Stay away form these types of programs.
Vast numbers of people trying to market the same or similar products/services are also a problem. I ran a search for companies that sell search engine optimization (SEO) help. They often promise to get you listed in the top ten in search engines. I quit counting at 300. My estimate is that there are more than 10,000 companies all claiming to get you listed on top for a charge.
